Description
Our skin comes in a wide variety of colours, ranging from shades of pale white to dark brown. Although an individual’s skin colour is influenced by numerous factors, the most significant is its content of a pigment called melanin. Melanin is also the pigment responsible for determining hair and eye colour.
Levels of melanin are primarily determined by genetics; individuals born to fair skinned parents will inherit their parent’s fair skin, as individuals born to dark skinned parents will inherit dark skin.
Skin type classification is based on the skin’s reaction to exposure to the sun’s UV radiation, after a period of non-exposure (e.g. sun exposure at the beginning of summer, when the skin has not been exposed during winter). The skin’s reaction is measured in terms of burning and tanning.
Below we indicate the different skin types and how South Beach Tan will work with your particular skin type
TYPE I – Extremely fair skin, always burns, never tans
This is the palest skin tone which is the most sensitive to sun exposure. This group always burns and usually peels.
What to expect when using Melanotan 2:
If you have a lot of freckles, they will darken before the rest of your skin tone. Don’t be concerned, this is normal and is actually a sign that the product is working. You will need a fairly large amount of product in your system before you see changes in your overall skin tone (possibly 4-5 weeks). After 4-5 weeks of loading with South Beach Tan you should no longer burn or peel when exposed to the sun. Moderate amounts of sun exposure will be required to achieve a deep tan. Always use a sunblock on the face and an SPF on the rest of the body regardless.
TYPE II – Fair skin, always burns, sometimes tans
This group isn’t extremely pale but still has trouble tanning. They burn easily and usually peel but can eventually develop a “slight” tan.
What to expect when using Melanotan 2:
If you have freckles you can expect them to darken within approximately 2 weeks. A few new freckles might appear. The skin tone will change within 4 weeks. You will need a low to moderate amount of sun exposure before you get the colour you want. After 4 weeks you shouldn’t burn or peel. As your face and arms will probably get darker first, you should use a high SPF on those areas.
TYPE III – Medium skin, sometimes burns, always tans
This covers the widest variety of skin tones. It refers to people who sometimes burn moderately in the sun but can gradually tan to a light brown colour.
What to expect when using Melanotan 2:
Just like people with paler skins, freckles will darken before the rest of your skin tone. People with this skin tone should notice an overall change / darkening of the skin tone within 3-4 weeks. People with this skin tone will need very little sun exposure to notice a difference in the skin tone. With as little as 20 minutes of sun once a week, your skin will darken quickly to a deep brown. Any part of your body exposed to sunlight (face, arms, hands, etc.) will tan very quickly. Use a high SPF if you find that those areas do not match the rest of your body.
TYPE IV – Olive skin, rarely burns, always tans
If this is you, consider yourself lucky. This group rarely burns in the sun and always tans to a deep, dark brown. They are not prone to peeling or freckling and can tan easily with minimal sun exposure.
What to expect when using Melanotan 2:
Most people with this skin type will use South Beach Tan to get a deeper tan without ever exposing themselves to harmful sunrays. People with this skin type will darken very quickly and the loading phase will be as short as 2 weeks. Your skin will get darker on its own without exposure to sunlight or tanning beds, making South Beach Tan the best sunless tanning product for you.
TYPE V – Moderately pigmented brown skin, never burns, always tans
Does not require the use of tanning products.
TYPE VI – Markedly pigmented black skin, never burns, always tans
Does not require the use of tanning products.
